Barbershop is in again!

If you have ever seen The Music Man, you'll probably think of the ever-charming Harold Hill, the amateur boy's band, the snooty Marian...maybe even the members-of-the-school-board quartet. In the Fine Arts Center production of this beloved musical, I got to meet the quartet who performed in this specific production. In fact, I was in the cast with them and I had the pleasure and honor of sharing the stage with this barbershop quartet (the Saturday Evening Post quartet). Now I'm not going to go off and compare these guys to the Buffalo Bills, who originated it on Braodway in 1957, but man, they were amazing! Their voices all blended together perfectly, they could stay in tune and the tone quality to their voices made their listeners grin! Although I won't be another production with them probably ever again (what other musical has a barbershop quartet?), I will always remember the joy they gave the cast and me.

  1. I LOVE barbershop quartets! I can't believe they are dying out, or rather they have been for the past few decades.
